The Spiritual Gift of Giving
Definition:
The spiritual gift of Giving is the supernatural ability to be sensitive to and to provide for the needs of others with great joy and generosity.
Description:
While this gift encompasses finances, it also entails giving your energy, talents, and time.
People that possess the gift of Giving are energized by contributing in a real and tangible way to further the mission of God and help people who are in need. Christians that possess this gift have confidence that they are not simply giving money but are instruments of God serving as the very hands and feet of the body of Christ.
Example from the Scripture:
Giving is central to the heart of Christianity. God the Father demonstrated this by sending Jesus Christ to us (John 3:16); Jesus commanded his disciples to give (Matthew 10:8), and the early Church modeled giving and contributing to the needs of others (Acts 4:34).
When this gift is present:
When the gift of Giving is active in a local church, needs are met, people are served, and there is a great sense of generosity that permeates the congregation.
When this gift is absent:
If the gift of Giving is not active in a local church, not only will needs be unmet, but the congregation could perceive giving offerings to missionaries and special projects as a duty and not a delight.
In the Life of Jesus:
Surprisingly, Jesus talks about money and giving more than he does major themes like heaven and hell. Of course, Jesus does not only talk about giving but models its importance by laying down his life on the cross for our freedom.
Do you have the spiritual gift of Giving?
- Are you energized when you contribute to church projects or people’s needs? * Do you look for opportunities to give of your time, talent and treasure?

- Spend time praying that God would strengthen this gifting.
